Online Youth International Chess Match for Girls/Boys Under 12, 14, 16, 18 and 20 age groups between Kazakhstan and Singapore in these uncertain times when many countries are encouraging social distancing and enforcing travel bans, virtual collaboration has become increasingly popular.

Akhmet Ishmukhamedov, a Kazakh citizen who is currently running his own consulting company in Singapore and Singaporean International Grandmaster Kevin Goh decided to collaborate and organize an Online Youth Friendly International Chess Match between Kazakhstan and Singapore to further strengthen existing cross-cultural relationsĀ  and to exchange ideas between the top youth players from both countries.
The #ChessAgainstCovid team will organize this match with the aim of encouraging all spectators and chess lovers to contribute to its charity drive (to help struggling families in Singapore). The match is endorsed by the Kazakhstan Chess Federation, Singapore Chess Federation as well as the Embassy of Republic of Kazakhstan in the Republic of Singapore.
Match Details
Date/Time: 3rd May 2020, Sunday from 1600 hrs to 1900 hrs Singapore time.
Location : Lichess.org
Participants: Each country will be represented by 20 of their top youth players, comprising 2 girls/boys in the U12, U14, U16, U18 and U20 age categories. Participants from Kazakhstan will be invited by the Kazakhstan Chess Federation. Participants from Singapore will be invited by the #ChessAgainstCovid team.
Time control: Each player will play 2 rapid games (15 minutes + 10 seconds)
Live commentary: GM Kevin Goh and GM Rinat Jumabayev will do live commentary during the match which shall be streamed via twitch and lichess.org.
Prizes: Book prizes will be awarded to the top 2 performing boys and girls from Singapore and Kazakhstan, selected by GM Kevin Goh and GM Rinat Jumabayev.
